I heard the seatpost clamp should be turned around 180° when the seatpost is carbon. It apparently distributes the clamping forces more evenly.

I saw that happen to a full carbon bike once. And before anyone jumps all over me saying it can’t happen, there were hundreds of witnesses. It was on a pre-ride for the 5boro bike tour in NYC so many, many people witnessed it. The young woman riding the bike wasn’t badly hurt but carbon scares the crap out of me now.

Never trust carbon failure products for anything structural. They are only good for panels
