I need to hold my seat in place for a second or so, otherwise it slowly leaks and raises. Same with dropping it. If I sit down too early, the post will collapse slowly.

What do you think is the problem? I am almost certain it is not the cable routing. I have tightened and loosened and even replaced it. But open to any suggestions.

Thank you!

  1. I have a fathom with the earlier version of that post and the same problem you’re having. make sure there isn’t anything gumming up the cable, and double check your cable tension. I’ve had dirt get in the switch and in the barrel screw, which seemed to add just enough friction to stop the cable/switch from fully returning after moving the seat

My YT Postman, which is a rebranded SDG Tellis was doing this. I completely disassembled it, cleaned it, lubed it up with slickoleum, and put it back together. It works like new now.

  3. Lots of good advice here. Doesn’t look like a dropper that can be bled. I’d check your cable housing for kinks and how the ends are finished. Lots of factories use long-ish plastic ferrules on their housings that can become pinned against the seat tube when the dropper is inserted to its max. This causes drag on the cable and may cause a delay in the lever return. Easiest way to check this is to push and release the lever and look for slack/slop in the cable immediately after you release it. Also, excess cable tail where the cable attaches to the bottom of the post can cause the same symptoms.
