Hi! We are An and Jeff Scott, two happily retired septuagenarians from the USA, who had a dream. That dream was to retire in France. So, we sold most of our “stuff”, packed and shipped the rest, and with our bossy little Yorkie, Bella, said “goodbye” to the USA. We moved from the sunny coast of southwest Florida to the sunny coast of the south of France, to enjoy our “golden years” and embrace the “joie de vivre” available to us, here in beautiful Nice, France.
Moving from the USA to a foreign country was no small “project”. Through our videos, we’ve been taking you through the Long Stay Visa process, the packing, the purging, the moving, searching for an apartment, creating a great Dossier, learning the way things are done administratively in France, and sharing the steps, talking about what we’ve learned and the ups and the downs.
And now, we continue to share our life, our new life, here in Nice, getting settled, adjusting to the “French” way of doing things, dealing with the French “red tape” and all the while, making every wonderful day in Nice, the best day ever…

Nice video, have you done your first tax returns in France? Any thing unexpected?
No Keurig in France? 😢
I am thinking that Apero is similar to “Happy Hour” and for the British it’s their Afternoon Tea time. Different variations for different cultures.
It's all those little things you do to make a house a home. I always wondered about the self-contained clothes dryers and appreciate how you described the parts.
It took me a while to learn that I had to empty out that drawer in the dryer! So much to learn 😜. And good grief, youve probably noticed by now how LONG it takes to dry the clothes! Wild. But for towels, especially, I am willing to do it 🙌.
I've loved watching your journey. I just purchased a home in September near Poitiers. 😊
Your house looks beautiful!…you all will have lots of fun with friends, using the new grill😃
Great video! How did you get the dryer to your apartment?
Loved this vlog. And your apero set up. Could you tell us what area of Nice you are in and is it walkable to stores?
"la plancha" is a nice way to have dinner. Everybody can eat whay they want. Also, you could have or invite people for an "apéro dinatoire" , combination of apéro and dinner with more food so people can stay longer and you don't have to be at the elm lol
