In 1577, the Black Shuck, a massive black dog with flaming red eyes killed four churchgoers in broad daylight. The charred claw marks still exist today, and Black Shuck continues stalking East Anglia’s misty English roads. Today, the town of Bungay holds the Black Shuck Festival, in remembrance.

Mr. InBetween decided to look into this story after playing Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla of all things! LOL

  1. Carol Ann woohoo lol. I love this story!!! Thank you!! My brother and nephew saw a phantom dog run in front of their car. Then vanish. My brother has always laughed at any cryptid stories. He actually called me to tell me what he saw. He is a believer now that anything is possible lol BTW on all fours it was taller than the front end of his car!!!!

  2. Has anyone considered, the people killed in the churches may not have been innocent victims? They may have been evil. They may have harmed their families or attacked innocent people or molested children. If the ones praying believed it was the second coming, they may have been praying for forgiveness.

  3. I live in East Anglia, and not far from Bungay and Blythburgh. I have seen the scorch marks on the door. Thank you for telling the story of Black Shuck, and in such a way that it draws you into the story for more. Brilliantly told 😃

  4. Hello from the UK. Thank you for posting this and for your deep research. One thing you may not be aware of. When the Uk was mainly 'peagan', the early christain church built its churches on sacred peagan sites. One case can be seen at Avebury. There is a large megalithic complex of stone circles (well worth spending some time there if you can). One of the smaller inner circles was partly demolished and the stones were broken up and used in the building of a small church on the circle site. This was done to show that christianity was the same as (or maybe more powerful than) the older gods, and also to 'encourage' the locals to worship there. May this is a factor in the church appearances.

  5. This is literally 10 minutes away from me and I’ve seen it I was sat in my the BFs car and it was eye level to me the window was open and I wasn’t in the slightest bit frightened I spoke to it gently for around 5/10 minutes and went to stoke he’s nose he snorted bowed he’s head and was off for some reason we had a connection my husband then boyfriend was just frozen staring straight at him but didn’t move or say a word there is also a devil dog where I used to live in a place call witches woods I called to him and I’ve seen him many times don’t know why but I’ve never been scared of them and theve always calmed when I’ve spoken to to them I know most of you won’t believe me but I know it’s the truth looking forward to hearing this story blessings to you all ❤

  6. Those black dog stories are very interesting. The fact it was able to enter a church suggests it's not some evil, demonic force. And that it protected that woman from getting robbed and likely violated makes me wonder if maybe it was able to enter that church to kill those people because it was actually killing monstrous humans. Those muggers hadn't hurt that woman yet, maybe their first time to commit a crime? But perhaps the people it killed in that church were secretly very evil, abusive people. It seems like it maybe left those claw marks as a reminder that people cannot hide evil deeds under the mask of good church folk.

  7. OOOOooooh! 🤩 Great work connecting the black dog to the ancient dog myths and the ley lines! EDIT: OOOOOOH and the crossroads/threshholds!! (This one is specifically interesting!!) I think you're onto something!

  8. I wonder if u could talk about the sightings in WW1. Called the Hellhounds of Mons. Could it be an Experiment from Germany? Could it be an Omen send by Satan to bring the Hell about the soldiers? Or could it be that this where only a douzen hungry hounds/wolfhounds?

  9. Me and animals have always vibed, especially dogs. The evolved Shuck is the one I want walking by my side. lol Thanks for sharing interesting stories well told, Carol Ann. ;o)

  10. This was such a good video! No surprise there! Lol Could you do a video about the bunyip? I don't see many videos about it I find it so interesting that people have actually seen it!😊

  11. As usual, you add details to this story that I hadn't heard, and insights I hadn't considered. I think your thoughts on this might be true. It makes me want to research historical pagan beliefs of that particular region prior to the influence of the Roman Empire.

  12. The winter nights here in the uk are extremely dark and foggy and creepy I love walking my dog at night I’ve never seen anything tho unfortunately

  13. Someone told me of a 'Blackberry Picker' out one afternoon foraging Berries for jam making when suddenly a large 'Black Dog' with curious Yellow/Orange eyes leapt from the Blackberry Bush they were gathering from…according to the eye witness this Dog was bigger than an Irish Wolfhound and twice as stocky…other than it's eyes and size there was no other distinguishing features..the witness was not frightened but was startled…allegedly the Animal bounded off at speed and was never seen again…

  14. I have been fantasy, horror , sci-fi as well the paranormal stories, but I have never heard about The Black Shuck, amazing story, now I got to research this, but I wonder that how Sir Arthur Conan Doyle come up with the book “ The Hound of the Baskervilles”??? I wonder

  15. I actually like that voice whoever played Darksiders 2 will know what I'm talking about it's a video game if anybody's into video games who ever play Darksiders 2 comment down here I would love to know 👇

  16. I wonder if there's any sightings where 2 elements meet. I remember in a dogman story someone said those places like the top of a mountain (earth/air), a river or beach bank (earth/water), that those places can act as portals too. You did an awesome deep dive on this one, as usual. ❤😊

  17. I agree with you that he sounds both good and bad, depending on what is needed. He protects those who need it, antagonizes those who need to be kept in line, and issues justice to those who might deserve it. I started to think about the couple in Walberswick, who experienced the banging and scratching on their door. I was wondering if the perhaps the husband could have been hurting his wife, and that is maybe why they experienced the dog attack? So that the husband would be so scared about the dog, that he would then not be hurting his wife? 🤔

Interesting theory about the ley lines, as well!

    Great episode, thank you!!
    😊💗👍👍
