We are finally here after such a long time – the new section of A418 Oxford Road just outside Aylesbury has opened. It’s not entirely finished yet but they got the road itself done in time.

Great vid as always. Can I ask that base on the left side with all the cars parked up, is that just a temp base while the work gets carried out?
Thanks for the updates, Karl. Very useful footage, too.
Great update. You are the first to hightlight and show the opening. There is still plenty to observe and share.
What happens to the old road now?
I was expecting you to get out there for an update, but not this fast! That's dedication Karl!
The old brick works, was there a dump there at some point? I run past there regularly and when they dug all the ground up, in the field a bit nearer the roundabout, there was masses of broken glass, reflecting in sunlight.
Im the sad old sod who went down there at 5am this morning to be the first civilian to go over the bridge ! It eventually opened at 5:55am and I was indeed the first and have the video 😁 Sadly it was still pitch black and you couldn't see a thing 😂
Well they certainly got cracking on the tarmac in the last few days as I didn't thinkcthey would pull it off. It was lovely to see the autumnal colours on the trees in your drone footage
Such a shame the bridge parapet is so tall, I'd love to be able to look over at the trains as they go underneath… I suppose it's to stop people jumping/throwing stuff at trains, sad that it's a necessary precaution.
Thanks Karl, a great video
Great Video thank you Karl
Great work Karl.
Houses lol
Thank you Karl. 😊
Are they keeping it 40mph and dropping the 50mph limit? It was short enough to not be worthwhile and yet cause motorists to expect to be going faster.
Thanks Karl. You have waited a long time for the road to be finished but you will be waiting even longer to see some trains in action , 2030 at best I believe.
Credit to them, they pulled it out of the bag. Just shows what progress can be made when focus is put on something… (shame more of the HS2 works aren't being run with that sort of focus).
Cheers Karl ! Looks like a good job! Nicer when landscaping is finished 👍🏻😎
With another closure 15-18 nov, i suspect thats when they'll finish the side road access and the pavement.
Thanks Karl, I cycled it yesterday morning so I'm surprised they got it done as there was so much still to be finished including some road way still to be tarmac-ed, It still a shame that when you cycle now it all in the open no tree cover anymore. keep the videos coming and will have to catch up for a cycle out.
Great footage thanks
some one else with a drone you has a rival. but so loving the regularupdates to this area i would cycle to gatehouse factorys from little kimble via bishopstone.
Great video Karl, keep them coming really interesting to see all this take shape, well done
So why did they not just build the bridge on the old road.
I went on it on my bus yesterday and I will everyday now!
Hope the cyclists stay on the cycleway as will be safer now
Great video. I drove over it at 8.30 on opening day. Very strange as you say, but hopefully with landcaping it will soften up and become familiar in time.
Thanks
Itz sad too see the old farm has completely gone. Great vlog xx
