    1. Arrival is my favorite movie. I fell asleep and didn’t finish it first time I watched it. Second time I was very skeptical, but it absolutely blew me away it’s so beautiful and sad. The music and visual theme, and this wild yet grounded sci-fi that is really a reflection on how language builds the mind

    2. Just wanted to say, from your viewpoint I cam understand putting the 3 lowest movies at that place. However they are very specific Québécois films, wich has it's own vibe. I get it why you put them there, but you should explore the Québécois film industry, you mihht be surprised.

    3. My own ranking (Biased to dune because I am a fanatic).

      1. Dune Part 2
      2. Arrival
      3. Sicario
      4. Dune part 1
      5. BR2049
      6. Prisoners
      7. Enemy
      8. Incendies (only because I haven’t seen it so cant rank fairly).

    4. Enemy has best character development and acting+directing skills
Edit: After seeing ur video i am more confused to choose my best movie of DV. His every movie special, amazing in its own way. Enemy really twists ur brain and thats why i love it. But Prisoners is also so much special. I wonder how Dune would have looked if the role of Paul was played by Jake or Ryan. Hope he casts one of them as older Paul in next chapters of Dune saga.

    5. I love Incendies, and while it is not my favorite movie of all time (that title is taken by Dune Part 2 which is of course another Denis film), it is the movie I consider to be the best directed.

    6. So great to see, you put Incendies on top of those outstanding movies. I have this one in my collection and want to see it again. But I'm so scared of doing so…

    7. Putting blade runner 2049 anything but last is a crime. it's a vastly inferior movie to its predecessor and marred by its legacy. it has more in common with the notion of modern video game adaptations (e.g. the mario movie) than any of his other work. it's a movie that exists only because of its predecessor and sets out only to reiterate the same points. it is vastly overrated. Arrival and Dune are easily some his best works, and shows his journey of coming to master his craft.

    8. This video made me realize that Denis Villeneuve loves pregnant women that are bad drivers. I'd rate them as follows from worst to best: Maelstrom

      August 32nd

      Enemy

      Polytechnique

      Prisoners

      Arrival

      Incendies

      Dune 1

      Dune 2

      Sicario

Blade Runner 2049 (This and sicario could switch day to day)

    9. Incendies was so heartbreaking for me since my father had to flee Lebanon from the civil war and I’m so connected with the country. The movie doesn’t say, but is inspired in Lebanese civil war

    10. Chani might be in trouble with the psycho fremen for wasting an rpg on one harkonnen to save her boyfriend. Now Stilgar must save the both from being desiccated by the psychos.
He is overwhelmingly relieved when Muadib sticks Feyd. Can't believe his luck.

    11. The title of ‘Best Living Director’ for me means; a director who hasn’t made a bad or mediocre film. For me that is Denis Villeneuve. Scorsese, Nolan AND EVEN Tarantino have, for me, made at least one film where I am like: “Meh”. But with Denis, I am riveted, absorbed, captivated every time.

    12. Dune was palatable despite the acting. TC and Zendaya are terrible. There was nothing stirring in most of the performances across both films. The films are redeemed mostly by the cinematography, music, and supporting cast. Enemy was better than those films. At best, I can assume he had little say over the casting considering theyre just using the current hot name actors.
