This is Episode 3, of my spectacular tour of the ‘Picos, Portugal & Pyrenees’ in Sept 2024.

The tour was organised by myself for the membership of the motorcycle club – www.pemc.co.uk. The trip involved 20 PEMC motorcycle club members.

For anyone looking for a great motorcycling club, the PEMC has about 300 members, mostly based in the UK, who enjoy a wide variety of well-priced events and trips based around the UK & Europe.

——————————————————————————————
THE COST OF THIS TOUR –
As the PEMC motorcycle club is essentially ‘non-profit’ and to keep costs realistic, these trips are ‘self guided’ only.
In Sept 2024, these were the costs per person for 14 nights Dinner, B&B in quality hotels.
Single Room – £2,009
Sharing Room – £1,426
(Excluding any ferry or Euro Tunnel costs, lunches, fuel etc).
——————————————————————————————

Episode 3 covers days six and seven of the tour.

Day 6 ~ We rode South from the Hotel Regua Douro in the Douro valley, across the Spanish/Portuguese border to the fabulous Serra da Estrela mountains and a pitstop at the ‘Torre’ highest point in mainland Portugal before continuing to the Hotel Luna Serra da Estrela for two nights.

*I have an admission to make…as it’s been pointed out to me, that I rode the ‘Portuguese Stelvio’ on Day 6, not Day 7 as titled in the video. At 09:27 in the vid, where I miss a planned waypoint and rode the N232 East to Manteigas…THAT’s the ‘Stelvio’ road, apparently.

It’s just that I didn’t realise it led me to, and down the ‘fabled’ twisty route and so, I didn’t film much until I reached the other side of Manteigas. So, aim for the N232 if you want the correct route.

Guess it’s all a good reason to go back and film it properly, plus loads of the other roads around the Serra da Estrela!

Day 7 ~ This was our second day in the Serra da Estrela area and most of group, rode out on one of my planned loop rides around some of the best riding in Europe. The loop I chose to use, covered several roads & towns that I had not ridden, before a stop at the Hydro Electric reservoir atop the mountains, and then another loop via Manteigas from the opposite direction and back to Covhila.

Best viewed on a TV, as it’s been filmed in HD but ensure your YouTube settings are set to the best visual quality available (1440/60).
