  1. Isn't he also riding on a pavement when there's a perfectly usable empty bike lane right next to him. Paid for by the massive taxes paid by those car drivers.

  2. So the taxi driver was expected to notice the cyclist on the opposite pavement, going in the wrong direction and not in the taxi’s mirrors, before making the turn? If the cyclist had been coming towards the taxi then it would have been easier to spot, but it still seems tough to require that taxi to check, before turning, not just oncoming motor vehicles and oncoming bikes in the official cycle lane, but also crazies on the pavement both ahead and behind…

  3. Sounds like cycling mikey

He could cause an accident by oncomming pedestrains walking on the the cycle lane to avoid him and geting hit from behind by a cyclist.

Imagine filming yourself doing something illegal.

  4. Doesn’t he HC state that pedestrians have priority in this situation, cyclists aren’t mentioned. It’s why sometimes I’ll get off my bike so I become a pedestrian and hope a driver follows the rules.

  5. Sorry for the random question but, is a restricted parking zone the same as a controlled parking zone, you need a permit to park but some bays might be pay and display that allow you to pay to park there?

  6. Yup same here in AUS. People always talk about how they have the 'right of way' which is not something that exists here. Here we 'give way' to people, but you can't just take it.

  7. This, sadly, is another prime example of an entitled cammer beliving that they are the most important person on the highway and everyone else must always yield to them irrespective of the rules. I would call someone like this an idiot, but that would be an insult to idiots.

  8. Wait, is that a shared path or not? If it's not a shared path then the the cyclist does not have priority. It is still the cab driver's responsibility to look out for this idiot, though.

I get why many people choose to ride on the pavement, it's not something I'd do myself, but just because you're using pedestrian space doesn't mean you get pedestrian privileges.

  9. All that money spent on the bike lanes on Princes Road and Princes Avenue and people still riding on the pavement. Usually a burger courier to blame for that one but the person in this clip wasn't transporting sh!te in a box and would have made better progress walking with the bike. Or jumping on that 80 instead.

  10. Ashley you didn't notice the reason the taxi driver continues is he was unaware of the cyclist due to him turning into the blinding morning sun impairing his vision

  11. Has to be some responsibility for your own self preservation, when walking I still stop when crossing the road and check both ways, we cannot take it for granted people knowing the new regulations, common sense should prevail.

  12. Also unless that pavement is designated as shared use (not likely as there's a cycle path directly adjacent) the cammer is breaking the law anyways as the highway code says you must not ride on the pavement.
