I have a day to spare and the weather was nice so i jumped in the car and drove to Bristol to do a few attempts of the UK’s steepest street. I know a lot of hill climb cyclists make this stuff look easy, but im kinda bad at this one!
16 degree average, 100 meters long, what could possibly go wrong!!!!
Ive also partnered with Insta360 to help create some of the unique views in this video.
Apologies about the building work going on, but i had driven all the way to Bristol and well… i did what i could.

  1. yeah need to get on top of the gear with an easy-ish gear or the torque will just kill the legs. But hard on an entry like that.

  2. @14:32 I also find it hard to get the watts down but that's more a reflection of my fitness level and less to do with gradients or gearing.
There aren't many super steep hills in Maidenhead so I would blame Maidenhead and Windsor Council for not providing the resources you need to get under 20 seconds 😉
Having said that, there is a brute of a hill in Marlow apparently…cobbles and very steep. Might be good practice for this 😉

  3. Born n bred Bristolian here, I finally took this one on in July after finding the balls to give it a crack, very daunting when stood at the junction sizing it up, but managed to go in 33seconds when taking it from above and the right hand turn in my lowest gear.
It took a fair bit longer on my first effort, coming from the street below all the way up and taking it left up the inside, those first 5mtrs are a killer😂

  4. Thanks for the shout out, can't believe I still have the 👑 KOM to be honest, it's been years and it's been promoted a lot on GCN etc.
FYI it's Another 💯 Climbs, as in the sequel to 💯 Climbs, you never heard of Simon Warren's books, have you been living on a turbo trainer?
