FRENCH cyclist Loana Lecomte suffered a horrific crash during the women’s mountain bike race this afternoon.

Following a strong start in Elancourt, the 24-year-old fell over her handlebars while navigating a rocky part of the track.

She appeared to hit her head on the floor before briefly losing consciousness.

Lecomte was also knocked by her bike in the sickening accident.

Stewards and medics immediately rushed to her aid while broadcasters cut away from the scene.

No incident replays were shown amid concern for the cyclist’s wellbeing.

Lecomte was eventually stretchered away from the track while spectators applauded and chanted her name.

French journalist Nicolas Georgereau later took to social media to give a positive update on her condition.

He wrote: “Loana Lecomte is still on site. She lost consciousness for a moment but was fine and was taken care of by the medical service.

“No worries at this stage.”
