In this video, you will join me along an exciting eurovelo 8 bikepacking trip as…

I couldn’t find a stealth camping spot by the seaside under Montpellier. After being turned away from a few campsites that wouldn’t accommodate tents, I managed to secure a spot at an official camp at the last minute.

The next morning, the forecast was accurate, and a big thunderstorm hit the seaside.

By the afternoon, the rain had stopped, but it left the campsite swamped with puddles. My tent was dirty with mud and insects.

The following morning, before leaving the camp, I had to clean the tent from an ant invasion and the dirt left by the rain flood. It took some time, but thankfully, the camp had a hose.

I needed to resupply at the closest Spar, as the previous days I had only eaten peanuts, fries, and half a chorizo, leaving me very hungry.

On my way, I saw a pond with flamingos. Then, I rode along the wild seaside with strong winds and waves, passing scenic bays where people were swimming and rafting.

I followed a super long promenade along huge beaches, battling a strong headwind—it reminded me of the French Bibione. It seemed like a camping paradise, with bike stops and long stretches of sand. I would love to camp here every day during the summer.

Then came a sketchy part of the road, a stark contrast from the smooth promenade to a single-track dirt path. Fortunately, I met a cyclist coming from the opposite direction, which reassured me that the road wasn’t a dead end with fallen trees after the thunderstorm, unlike in Italy.

I stopped at Burger King to get dinner—fries with cheddar on top, which was great. Then, I stumbled upon a dragon boat race in Agde, with teams in classy French marine outfits. I would have loved to stay and watch the race, but it was already half-past nine, and I needed to find a stealth camping spot to sleep.

The road from Agde became increasingly off-road, and it was getting dark. It was already dark when I found a quiet spot for stealth camping next to the route, under trees close to another official camp.
