🚩 Considered one of the most important defeats in Roman history, the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest brought the triumphant period of expansion under Augustus to an abrupt end. It discouraged the Romans from pursuing the full conquest of Germania, instead switching to tribute collection, thus can be considered one of the most important events in European history.

You can beat the romans, sure.
But they have a habit of comming back again.
Didnt know Varus committed suicide, thats cool as fuck as he knew he's doomed.
For the algorithm
I think Augustus himself died thinking he was a failure because of this, it was that traumatic to the Roman psyche to lose those eagles. Or something like that.
Never been more excited for a series!
This must be one of your best, if not the best, video narration ever from you. You had me glued to the screen, despite already knowing the outcome. The daunting doom music and your narration killed it. Well done, man, well done.
Varus! What a coward. Instead of deciding to fight to the last with his men, takes the easy option. Goddam.
"The Romans are no more", he said….That's what he thought and was hoping for. But he only made Rome angry.
Poor Augustus, I can easily imagine how desperate he must have felt. 🤯😭😵💫
Pleasee upload Part 20 of Second Punic War….Its been over a year, not a joke anymore
AWESOME! THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD. THIS SERIES WILL BE A NICE COMPANION TO LIVIUS'S ANNALI
Imagine being a Roman solider in this battle. Hungry, exhausted, and thoroughly worn down by the three days fighting. All your officers and leadership is killed and there is no escape. The only real commanding officer is Eggius. You out up a last stand by the Eagle…
Where did all these additional details come from? Have additional letters been discovered? Lots of detail not provided previously!
Unfortunately full with mistakes and a really old status of research. For example even the Museum of Kalkriese demolished the reconstructed wall because its completely uncertain with the reconstruction of such a defense structure based on the excavated archeological evidence. You telling here a nice story but without a deep dive into the real archaeological findings and especially the german publications on this topic.
Whenever the Germanic tribes wins against Rome, the world of the Romans turns upside down.
Example.
Cimbrian Wars 100s BC
*When the Germanic Cimbri and Tuetones almost destroyed the Roman Army, that was Manipular at that time, they were forced to change. Instead of a Citizen Army they were now
Professionals and standardized.
Battle of Teutoberg Forest 9 AD
Instead of conquering Germania, the Romans had to rethink themselves if Conquering the vast germanic territory was worth it.
Marcomannic Wars
This war has an unforseen consequences. This war contribute to the rise of Lombard, Vandals and Goths that would later haunt the empire.
Battle of Adrianople
The battle that was the beginning of the end for the Roman Empire.
The Germans may have won a few of those battles that I wrote, but it when they do won. The Roman world turns upside down
Can’t imagine the fear alone of walking through a silent scary forest like that on top of being chased and stalked to death by the Germans it must have been a true horror movie and absolutely terrifying
Armenius: So I defeated them and had my revenge.
Germanicus: So I´m invisible to you huh…
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for all your videos, you are my absolute favorite channel to watch about history and I really enjoy the top down maps, I enjoy watching that tactics play out. Hope can I learn more about top down tactics?
What a movie.
Great channel ever.
Thanks for the hard work and also want more about the series.
Also remember Hannibal.
We want Germanicus’ parts
Varus is a noob. They told him, it,s a trap, but he thought(hey maybe the threes have fallen from themselves in front of our path).
Where were the advanced guards and flankers?
Why wasn’t a forward guard placed half a days March ahead of the main column to ferret out any potential obstacles
I love the narrator
One of the best channels on yootoob
There is no honor in betrayal.
Thanks for the analysis! I have a quick question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Complacency has its cost. The romans would never remain on top forever
Rome lost more men in battles with the Germans before this ambush happened. So why make this such a big deal? Because Rome was an empire built on conquest for immediate profit and conquering Germany didn't offer that. This short sighted view ultimately spelled the end of the Roman Empire.
Damn so many adds around 12 😅😅😅
Castra are incorrectly represented
Best video of the Teuteburg forest battle I have seen so far! I hope more acheological findings confirm how the battle evolved!
Everyone gangsta till the Tuetoberg trees start speaking Cherusci
Thanks for another great video!! You guys rock!
❤
Very detailed and informative ❤❤
Bro when you are gonna continue Hannibal series. I am waiting since January now, same with oversimplified.
Teutoburg is just about 50 years from Julius Caesar's death, 44 bc.
2 legionaires-generations…. these soldiers are Caesar's grandkids.
what was Arminius' last words leaving the Roman camp 3 days ago?
Don't forget to duck!
This whole thing reminds me very much of a lot of the Native American tribes. Suppose it would be the other way around tho. This is much older lol.
Awesome video
ROMA NOT SO INCVTA 😭
Looking forward to part 2
Love it! Keep 'em comin'!
