I always tell first timers to go straight up the fire road to Poltys as it only takes 10 -15 minutes, but the official route takes you up the horrible hill, along the valley side and then back up to the top from Blackling Hole.

Ive been riding the red for over 6 years but never done much of this before, so today is the day!

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it, the run down to Blackling Hole is excellent, the rest to Poltys is a bit of a drag, but, much better than being sat at home.

There are Komoot QR codes for both ways up, but, if its your first time, I would still recommend going the quick way up to leave plenty of time and energy for all the fun bits.

Kudos to the Hamsterley Trailblazers and Forestry England for all the great work they do keeping the trails fun and safe.
