The Ashuwillticook Rail Trail is a 12.7 mile, 10-foot wide, paved trail in Massachusetts.
It runs through the towns of Cheshire, Lanesborough, and Adams, and into the city of Pittsfield. The trail is a multi-use trail for: Biking, Walking, Roller-blading, Jogging, Cross-country skiing.
The trail’s gentle grade and smooth surface make it suitable for people of all ages and abilities.
The trail starts in Pittsfield and ends in Adams. It runs parallel to Route 8. The trail runs along the Hoosac River Valley.
The trail’s name comes from the American Indian language. It literally means “at the in-between pleasant river” or, more commonly today, “the pleasant river in between the hills”.
