Each year a short window of opportunity presents itself on Oslo Fjord. It’s been a mild winter, but a section of the fjord has frozen over. When the invite is sent your way it’s hard to say no. 😅
Practical info about riding on a Fjord:
1. Only ride in a group with experienced knowledgeable locals
2. Studded tires are obviously essential
3. Try not to clip in
4. Bring appropriate safety equipment

Have you made a Strava segment yet?! 😅🙈
what a place what an adventure.
super video Mr Matthew – hope your cycle norway project is going well.
Hi Matthew I've been watching your videos on yt. I'm interested in cycling to Norway via Amsterdam now I don't know if I should cycle from Amsterdam or get a ferry to Norway, I'll be doing this on my own and it will be my first adventure, obviously I'm going for the scenery and adventure I'm a bit apprehensive because I'm going to be on my own can you give me some tips it would be appreciated thanks Andy from the UK.
AMAZING! Beautiful! (Especially from the safety of my sofa😂) Makes me want to start cycling in early morning…. On safe ground…. Once the snow has disappeared….😅
But very much enjoyed the effort you put into this!
Matthew – thank you for doing this so I don't have to! I can't wait to see all the good things to come!
Magical! That goes to the bucket list now. Have to learn swimming first though 😄
crazy stuff
That scared the ** out of me just watching from my cozy desk chair. Absolutely beautiful landscape. Looking forward to the new site.
What an adventure! Stunning footage 🧡
I think I rather would equip myself with ice skates, much better control on the slippery ice 😀
Amazing 🚴🏽♂️👍
Absolute mad lads! Incredible footage, thanks for this! 😅
Wow, what an amazing video. If you think it doesn’t can get any better, you always treat us with something totally new and breath taking. Thank you soo much Matthew.
Hi Matthew, great video. Been watching your bike packing videos for inspiration as I am planning on buying a bike for bikepacking in Norway (I live in Oslo). I am wondering if you have any suggestions of bikes to consider? Or would you still recommend your Grail?
Cheers!
Love your videos and adventures Matthew, I’m planing a backpacking trip from Bergen to Stavanger. Do you have rout recommendations? That would be extremely helpful 😊
off-topic: Do you have something to do with the Norwegian biketunnel?
Hey ! Thanks for the video ! I think I might do the Eurovelo that goes from Norway . But still hesitating with other routes including the mediterranean and the atlantic !
Look forward to April 2023
Spectacular, thank you!
yes
From 4:50 to 5:30…some of the most breathtaking video. Not enough superlatives to describe this.
Very scary!
That looked amazing! We haven't had sea ice down the road in Githenburg this winter. But every 10-15 years or so we get these conditions. Glad you got to experience è that!
We did that a lot back home on studded tores. Its a blast and falls were more funny that painful.
Hey Matt love your videos. I'm also a Brit in Norway and planning some bike packing this summer. Do you have some of the routes you've done saved on Strava or other apps?
Great done Mathew ! I believe you enjoyed it.. It brings lots of memories as I live in Stavanger and 2years ago when all lakes were frozen/ happens only ones in long time/ I rode my bike there.. I see it easier on enduro bike with fat spike tires but that feeling is incredible and for me surely unforgetable 🙂 .. congrats to your new website and thank you for that effort! It is very inspirative and I look forward to follow some of your journeys on my own…maybe even to meet you somewhere.. 🤗
Matty, love love the Channel, but without content regularly I fear people will leave and not return eg move on.
Please post a bit more often, even just 5min videos, or 30secs of something cool. The longer your are out of sight, the harder it is to find the light again.
I love Norway and I am planning to return in 2025 to run across the Orseund bridge and then ride everywhere.
