    2. Some time ago I bought a copy of the Brazilian edition of Das Nibelungenlied (A Canção dos Nibelungos, publisher Thesaurus, Brasília, 2013). As I am a literature scholar, I read the book accurately and decided to expose it here because of the irrational and culturally intolerant reading that Nazis and neo-Nazis make of this work.

      In addition to the adventure with the dragon and battles between virtuous (and not so virtuous) warriors, Das Nibelungenlied chronicles the opulence and refinement at Gunther's court in Worms and Brünhild's court in Iceland. I highlight below some fragments of the work on this topic:

      362. In Arabian silks, white as snow, and in other excellent alfalfa-green silks, coming from Zazamanc, they set precious stones, resulting in beautiful garments. It was Kremhild, the beautiful maiden, who personally tailored the clothes. (A Canção dos Nibelungos, publisher Thesaurus, Brasília, 2013, 6th Adventure, p. 93)

      364. The ladies had at their disposal the best silks from Morocco and Libya in quantities that no other royal house had ever gathered. Kremhild's commitment to serving them showed how much she loved them. (A Canção dos Nibelungos, publisher Thesaurus, Brasília, 2013, 6th Adventure, p. 93)

      429. The maiden put on a coat of mail made of silk and which had never been damaged in combat. The fabric from Libya was beautiful. On it you could see precious braids embroidered with gold thread. (A Canção dos Nibelungos, publisher Thesaurus, Brasília, 2013, 7th Adventure, p. 105)

      In the castle of Bechelarem, the wife of Rüdiger – a vassal of Etzel (king of the Huns) who had communicated the king of the Huns' interest in marrying the widow Kremhild – gives a gift to the treacherous Hagen von Tronje.

      1702. A cloth of fine silk covered the shield studded with precious stones (daylight had never illuminated a better shield). If someone wanted to buy it, it would certainly be worth a thousand marks. (A Canção dos Nibelungos, publisher Thesaurus, Brasília, 2013, 27th Adventure, p. 345)

      At a crucial moment in Siegfried's saga, silk also plays an important role:

      903. Hagen von Tronje then suggested. ‘Embroider a small sign on his costume so that I know where I must protect him while we are involved in combat.’ She believed that she had thus protected the Hero’s life, when, in reality, she was preparing his death.

      904. She replied: 'With very fine silk thread I will embroider an almost imperceptible cross. It is there that you, brave warrior, must protect my husband, whenever in the midst of battle he faces the enemy.’ ” (A Canção dos Nibelungos, publisher Thesaurus, Brasília, 2013, 15th Adventure p. 194)

      From the above-mentioned fragments, we can conclude that the Middle East, Asia, Africa and the West were deliberately mixed during the construction process of the main object of worship of the Nazis and neo-Nazis. It is not possible to separate them without deeply mutilating Das Nibelungenlied. Cultural intolerance is not present in the text of the epic poem. It is the product of a selective, distorted and irrational reading (or, which is also likely, a non-reading) of the work.

      In a way, the true treasure is not the gold but the cultural tolerance recorded in the book and arising from the worship and consumption of luxury products from Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
