Hi Everyone!

My mother passed away a few months ago and I have been in the process of sorting through her things. During this process, I found this Scott Genius bike that had been very lightly used and is in perfect condition.

I am trying to determine the size, model number, and approximate value of the bike.

My mom was about 5’7” and I don’t think she used the bike more than a few time given the timing of her passing. I can’t find record of the purchase, but I’ve seen the retail for these bikes can be quite high. If I were to sell, what would be an appropriate asking price since it is used?

I like across the country (USA) from where this bike is and I live in a busy city. I am also 6 feet tall and 220lbs, so I don’t think keeping the bike would work out given my location and size compared to my mom.

Any advice would be appreciated! For instance, what is the best way to sell a bike like this? A bike store? Facebook marketplace? I’d be selling the bike in the Las Vegas/Henderson, NV area for reference. Thank you!!

Sorry to hear about your mothers passing, that bike is in mint condition, still has the dork disc and looks brand new, you could probably get a few hundred under MSRP depending on where the bike is(if there’s a big mtb community around that area or not)

Looks like the Scott Genius 3000 to me. I say that because it looks exactly like my bike. Mines a 2023. I believe I paid around $3k. I’m sure I’m could locate the approximate price online. I bought it because I (M34) was getting back into MTB after more than a decade away and after some research, including talking with knowledgable friends, I found it was the best value bike for getting back into the sport. I love it and put a lot of miles on it. It did well on the Monarch Crest last weekend.

the tires aren’t even dirty. naturally you wont get full price because its still second hand, but just under msrp wont be hard to move.

you might struggle to sell it though tbh, during and after covid there was a HUGE demand and severe lack of supply, prices were sky high. I know a ton of people that have had issues tryna sell high quality bikes for a solid price, and a covid price STEAL of a deal
