Saw Rick Vosper’s review in Bicycle Retailer today and thought I’d check it out. Only $3.99 on Kindle and pretty good so far.

    1. For the same reason as everything else: The labor is cheaper.

    2. A lot of bikes are made in Asia, Taiwan especially. They do the frames, and I think they send the frames back to Europe and elsewhere to be painted and assembled.
      At least, that is what I’ve gathered from a bit of research.

    3. The profiteers squandered a lot of industries. The political elite is just waking up to the fact, that national security has been compromised by that. Greed is the root of many problems.

    4. I can’t find it now, but *Velo News* had a great article about Schwinn, Giant, and technology transfer some years ago.

    5. Helkama bikes are still made in Finland, though I suppose they aren’t as popular elsewhere.
