Some time last year this story came across this subreddit. Today I have disheartening news. Despite 2/3 doctors saying the main perpetrator was fit to stand trial the judge has agreed to delay the trial because a third said he was not.

AFAIK someone declared insane or whatever doesn’t just get to go free. It still means being incarcerated
This isn’t really a big deal. I’m not precisely familiar with Nevada law, but generally, if he’s incompetent to stand trial, he’ll be remanded to a state medical facility where he’ll be evaluated. If he can be returned to competency through treatment—voluntary or no—he’ll go through that process and eventually stand trial. If he can’t be returned to competency, he can be held in a state medical facility for a very long time, given the nature of the charges.
He’s not going to be back in the general population any time soon, if ever.
Same outcome. Just way more expensive to house him.
