I love this channel.. Does this video come out every Sunday?
🚈 ❤
01:38 Thanks for the Slussen update! < 3
(the new bridge project itself has been criticized too ->
in this case for leading cyclists into/through a future busy market square on the Södermalm side…😅🥲)
Vantaa has started construction on it's tram line this week.
Fantastic video as always! I've been wanting a news channel focused exclusively on transit and urbanism, and your content hits the spot.
In case you missed it, Milan (IT) opened the full length of its new M4 metro line just yesterday!
in milan the m4 metro line was fully opened to the public yesterday !
well what is this Indian guy expecting to come? less traffic, without trams??? seriously??? i guess he is not a regular viewer of this channel…
Tampere also approved tram extensions to Linnanmaa and Pirkkala this week.
Removal of public transport for less traffic 🤡
Kolkata doing the same mistake as my city (Paris) did A HUNDRED YEARS AGO… 🤦🏼♂️
There is like a thousand exemples that removing public transportation makes traffic worse but this idiot thinks that It will work this time… 🤡
Good luck to Kolkata inhabitants, hope that the people can get this decision changed.
Oh, and I also have some news from Vienna: The heavy floodings a few weeks ago have not only damaged Austria's new Western railway line, which will now open sometime in December (hopefully), they have also massively damaged the metro construction at the station Pilgramgasse. The construction site for the new station for line U2 was flooded and will need extensive repairs, which will probably delay the whole project by one or two years…
Here in Chile, the current and last governments have heavily invested in EFE Trenes de Chile to start using abandoned train lines usually for suburban/commuter trains following the success that have been Tren Limache Puerto (Valparaíso) and Tren Nos Estación Central (Santiago).
The Tren Melipilla is set to give service to the west side of Santiago and the tunnel section will be also used so that trains can go through Estación Central (which is only a terminal station right now). Tren Melipilla will connect to Tren Batuco (suburban train line planned for the northern part of Santiago) passing through Quinta Normal metro station, this station was built around year 2000 with that connection in mind… so it is the end of a years long plan.
ps. I love to see Chile mentioned in your channel
Hi, I am from Kolkata, and I am a member of the Calcutta Tram Users Association (CTUA) who are fighting hard to save the trams. Along with this traffic logic, there are also other bullshit logic which the transport minister and officials give:
*Trams are slow and not suitable for a highly populated city like Kolkata
*Tramlines are a danger for 2 wheeler motorcycles
*Trams are a thing of past and obsolete
Actually the main reason they want to close the trams is due to those huge depot lands which they want to sell to the real estate.
There is no official statement from the govt though regarding the closure of trams, it's just that the minister has announced this in the press conference.
CTUA, along with other organisations, are really fighting hard, we really don't know what will be the ultimate fate.
Thanks for covering this update❤
Mexico has the potental to become a solar superpower
Thanks for video!
Although I had my skepticism over her rise to power in Mexico, President Sheinbaum has become the pro-transit, eco-friendly leader of my dreams! Can the next Liberal leader in Canada please be a strong, eco-minded woman, please! There's plenty to choose from if Trudeau simply retires after 9 years as PM…
Just came back from a 140km bike ride to watch this 👍
Oh, Kolkata! That's a bad move… If anything, create dedicated, protected tramways to clear the streets of the city, people!
9:14 repeat of history, trams cause congestion -_-
In Milan, Italy, the last section of line 4 (the fifth metro line in the city) has been completed and it was inaugurted last Saturday
damn that "central de abasto" is no joke, look at that thing in the map, it's gigantic
We, citizens of kolkata are fighting against authorities and started a legal battle to save trams. Trams cannot be discontinued.
Excellent pronunciation of the Stockholm place names 🙂
This past week the first leg of the Lisbon-Porto highspeed rail line was awarded to the winner consortium, with construction starting shortly I believe! The renders of the stations and the new necessary bridge over the Douro river were release aswell. The brige will have 2 spans, one for trains and another lower one for cars and pedestrians/bikes!
No! Don't destroy your tram network Kolkata! Invest in it. New trams and tram-only lanes. Yes, there's a metro system being built. No, that does not make trams redundant. Different tools doing different tasks in urban transport. Both needed in a city as big & dense as Kolkata.
