Hello everyone !
Could you please help me identify this singletrack trek? what do you know about this model ? i have never seen a frame with this geometry on a 970, is it a special edition ?
1992. The shifters are of the Rapid Fire Plus type (index finger cable release), new in 1992 for XTR (8 speed), Deore XT (w/ Servo Wave brake levers) and Deore DX. Rest of the Shimano MTB range was still on 1st Gen Rapid Fire (both buttons operated by thumb). The plus version had a lighter operation, thanks to slightly longer levers and a bit larger ratchets where the friction generated by the mechanism had less mechanical advantage.

That is a 92. The smaller size models had a sloping top tube, no other way to accommodate front tire with a very short seat tube…
