  1. 15:06 I am one of the 12 million people who was watching Tommy Cooper's performance on broadcast television back in the day. That moment when he gently fell to the stage then slumped slowly, almost ponderously back through the rear stage curtain will be with me for the rest of my life. He did not show any signs of pain or utter any sound which is why the audience thought that it was part of the act.

The audience were in uproar but, as documented both here and in the official press release, he passed away doing that which he loved best, entertaining and making his audience laugh, a sound which would have comforted him in his final moments. R.I.P. Tommy.

  2. Really wanted to watch this video unfortunately the worst voice….(personality?) on youtube is there. Actually voice is probably fine but whatever it is being done with the weird exclamations and inflections is so awkward I can't watch/listen.

  3. It's beyond amazing how amazed I can be by these amazing videos on this amazing channel & I'm a stan for life, thank you thank you for all that you do as it's much appreciated & amazing. 🫡🫡🫡

  4. My Mum was in that TV audience that saw Tommy Cooper die on stage during the Royal Variety Performance. It had been cold in church that evening, and women in thick coats were sitting by the heaters and then switching them off (selfish kind of logic), so Mum went home early… since she had me to look after too (I was only a babe in arms then) – and she happened to see it on telly. But she didn't know what had happened until she saw the article heading in the papers next day: "Just like that!" (referencing his old catchphrase)
