Episode 3 turned out to be probably the best days touring around Norfolk with some interesting things to visit and see.
I started off at Bungay and was soon at the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum which is totally run by volunteers. If you are an aircraft enthusiast this is the place to visit showing off loads of different aeroplanes and helicopters, plus loads of memorabilia.
Carrying on next stop was the Leiston Abbey another enjoyable visit of the remains and well looked after ruins of said abbey.
Reaching Aldeburgh and parking up next to the beach, I walked through the pebbled surface to have a look at the Scallop Sculpture.
The sculpture is a tribute to composer Benjamin Britten who lived in Aldeburgh and walked almost daily along the stretch of coastline between there and Thorpeness. It is made by local-born artist Maggi Hambling, an ardent fan of Britten’s music.
Scallop, created in 2003, is formed of two halves of a broken shell, fabricated from steel. One half stands upright, its sea-facing surface polished and catching the shimmering light. The other half of the shell lies prone, making a sort of platform. Cut high into the sculpture’s upper edge is the line “I hear those voices that will not be drowned” from Hambling’s favourite Britten opera, Peter Grimes.
From there I continued on the loop and enjoyed the rest of the ride and hope you do too.

    1. Yep the Suffolk avaition museum is very good, also Leiston is where Garrett Traction engines were made, a museum there also, and finally Leiston is hoe to David Silver spares, Honda specialist, and a excellent collection of Honda motorcyclys both old and new,

    2. Spoiling us indeed! That museum looks fantastic. It worries me what will happen to those kind of places as the volunteers with all the skills are sadly no longer with us. Oxford Rainseal to the rescue again. You are probably 'worse off' with the vented jacket under the waterproof. Have to say I've never felt the need for a 'proper' vented jacket in the UK, I just open all the vents in my old RST Adventure II and I've never had any problems, same with two tours to Spain in July. Guess I must be a 'cool' sort of guy 😉 'It's goin black over Bill's Mothers' 🤣 It's been some years since I've heard that. I guess you have to be of a certain age. Another great video Steve. Bet it felt a bit odd on your lonesome. Nice to be able to stop and choose as you please, but a bit strange in the caravan at the end of the day. Hope there was a boozer nearby 👍

    3. Awesome Steve! I'm deffo going to have a look around the aviation museum, worth the trip (2.5hrs for me) just to see the McDonnell Douglas F4 Phantom, I built a few of them from Airfix kits when I was a kid! I really enjoyed that, many thanks for sharing 👍

    4. Another cracking video of an excellent ride. I have said before that, like you, I am a huge Simon Weir fan and try whenever possible to incorporate his suggestions into my tours. I like looking through his books when planning a tour and then pinching bits and bobs to paste into my routes…. works every time.

    5. Nice video again Steve, love the aircraft museum, looks well worth a visit.
Wouldn't be England without a drop of rain at some stage would it.😁😁

    6. Hi Steve what some lovely places on this video that you visited, the aircraft museum was brilliant and pretty little villages. Great video again thank you for sharing 👍

    7. The amount of times I've been past that museum, didn't realise there was more behind, must go there. This is my local riding area, just some brilliant roads and get the right time of day and they're really quiet.

    8. Flixton is a great museum, been plenty of times as its a 20min ride from home.
Check out the history of the Bungay Buckeroos, the airman that flew from there during ww2.

    9. Fantastic job of showing off my home turf Steve, as a Norfolk man I'm fully aware of just how beautiful it still is, don't tell too many people though!! Really enjoying this series 😊
