I'm a complete beginner and just want a bike for casual rides such as to the grocery store ~3 miles away or occasionally ride on a flat bike pathway to the beach ~15 miles. Nothing crazy.

Marin bike: Seller only wrote "Ladies bike in perfect shape" and that they barely rode it. It appeals to me because of the cheaper price tag of $75.

Electra Townie 7D EQ comfort cruiser: The seller wrote:
"7 Speed Army Green Electra Townie 7D EQ Comfort Cruiser
– 26 inch wheels with front and rear hand brakes
– 7 Speed Shimano Gears
– Lightweight Aluminum Frame
– EQ model with built in automatic lights
– Matching Chain Guard and Fenders
– Beautiful Brown Seat with matching hand grips and tires
– New Bell
– Fully Cleaned and Ready to Ride
Bike looks great, awesome color combo and rides silky smooth!"
This one appeals to me because it looks more aesthetically pleasing, and sounds comfortable. I'm going to have to store the bike inside my apartment so it'd be nice to have a good-looking bike. But I'm not sure if $360 is a good price for this specific bike?

  1. Marin is a reputable brand, the Electra is newer and therefore more modern/has better components, most notably the Electra is a 1X drivetrain, that particular model retails for $700. The marin being a step through is a plus for a comfort/in town bike and you could even upgrade components as needed. ignoring the issue of sizing/fit I would get the Marin personally.
