Hey peepz, i realy like the diy attidude of this sub. Lately there are a lot of companys releasing handlebar cradle solutions. I think that this is the direction to go, as the normal handlebar roll has to many drawbacks. The cradle solutions are realy expensiv, so i started to experiment to come up with my own version of it.
The base are two motorcycle brackets from aliexpress with 3x m6 and 1x m8 threads:
These clamps can be mounted pretty sturdy with a thin layer of old tube.
Than you can add those screwextensions in your desired lenght:
I started with 6cm but then went down to 3cm. I use 4 of these in total. 2 for screwing the cradle in place and 2 for stabilizing the cradle.
As cradle i bought a decathlon cradle and bent the bottom piece flat:
I choose this one because of the many mounting holes and the cheap price. I am sure that with a little bit more money you can buy somethiong fancy like the fixplus cargo cage m.
To top it of i use fixplus straps. But any strap would work.
It looks a bit raw, but it is kind of modular, cheap and bombproof. I ride this cradle for 2 years now for long trips, short trips and ultra endurance mtb races and it has not sliped once. I can use it with drybags of any typ and size, to adapt the trip i am planning. The best part is that the drybag is completly of cables, hoses and the frame.
PS: my original post was removed, so this time i removed the aliexpress and decathlon links. If you are interested in these links, i can post them again.
