That’s just breaking it in. Not a single (steel) Brompton out there that isn’t missing a little paint on the hinge. The handlebars are aluminum so nothing to worry about there either.

yeah i’m with the “you just christened it” gang. Especially on the hinge, ALL the paint on the pressure bearing parts will come off.
and just to mentally prepare yourself, you will also lose paint everywhere a cable touches paint. where the tyre touches paint when folded, etc etc. This is OK! It’s the mark of a well used and loved bike.

If you really need to just keep some clear nail polish on hand and swipe it on when it chips. It will happen again but it’s cheap to keep the rust away.
