Like the post title says, I live in Alaska and am headed to the Moab area for some bikepacking in a few weeks (late October). I'm comfy and experienced on my bike up here, but I have very little idea how that'll translate to the dry-er, hotter, and higher altitudes (bears and snow I can roll with ;)). I've spent a fair amount of time in the Moab area, but mostly climbing.
My aim is for this to be a shakedown trip, an I'll be solo, so aiming to keep objectives very manageable. Here's my initial thoughts:
- Micro trip 1: Kane Creek (2 day 1 night) https://bikepacking.com/routes/fatpacking-moab-kane-creak-and-pritchett-canyon/
- A night back in Moab to resupply and chill
- Micro trip 2: Beef basin loop (2 day 1 night) https://www.brianlucido.com/beef-basin-bikepack-route/
- Some 1 day/ 1 night out and back somewhere.
For folks who have spent time out in this area – any beta? Any other recommendations?
Appreciate y'all!
