It says crossroads Fuji on it and the wheels are pretty thin. Also if theres a way to find a less expensive wheel that would be great

Also, how could he prevent this from happening again? I think he said he locked the back tire instead of the front which he said he should’ve done since it’s harder to steal? I’m not exactly sure though

The rear wheel is worth more, so locking it vs the front makes sense. The difference in how long it takes to steal is negligible. There are wheel locks like Pinhead, though a bit pricy. Otherwise a long cable long through the front wheel and looped to the U lock in the rear

Most Local bike shops should have an inexpensive used (under $125) 700c front aluminum rim wheel.

    3. Explain to your small local shops what happened, also check online for a front 700c wheel.

You probably need 23mm 700c.m. But then you also need the tube, rim tape, and a tire to match it. Then you have to know how to adjust the brake. Your best bet is Facebook marketplace used. Your boyfriends bike is cheap and worth only sentimental value. He’s better off selling it for parts and spending the new wheel money on new bike unless you get lucky on Facebook or offer up. You’re looking at around 150 for parts online. Bike stores are likely cheaper but not by much.

    5. Check if you have any bike co-ops in your area or bike thrift shops. You might be able to get a wheel for like $30 there and a slightly used tire or something.

Wheel is one of the more expensive things on a bike. So a new wheel could be like $100. Then add $30-50 for a decent tire; $7 for an inner tube; and $5 for rim tape.

There are locking skewers that will slow down thieves but maybe not totally stop them. Get a 1m cable to secure the wheel not inside your lock. When you use the cable, wrap the wheel and then put one eye through the other and then put the eye in the lock. The 4ft cable here would be sufficient: https://www.onguardlock.com/product/akita-loop-cable/

eBay you can get a pretty nice front wheel for $100 but that might encourage thieves to take it again. You could get a bolt on axel instead of a quick release to make it harder.
