last July I bought a marin nicasio to commute around Amsterdam. I'm studying electrical engineering, for which i need to haul around my chunky (gaming) laptop and 2 pretty chunky books. I also have some problems with my back, so i can't hold it on my back too long. I'm planning on buying an ortlieb vario Backpack, together with my backrollers so i don't have to put any stress on my back.

I'm looking for a rack that's able to my fully loaded backpack, max 12kg, and ideally made of steel. I was looking at Old man mountain (it's aluminium, ik), but it's pretty expensive. i looking at max 100euro. do you have any recommendations? it's much appreciated.

    1. Thorn make a steel rack, called their Expedition rack I think. Heat treated steel. I have one it’s been great for years of commuting. Naturally not featherweight but it’s strong af
