    1. I’m also goin with Ryanair. But does it matter? The airport crew is packing the airplane not the Ryanair by itself right?

    2. Don’t understand the hate on RyanAir. They’re cheap so you know what you’re paying for. Also, they’re more timely than most other airlines.

With a soft bag like this, packed how you just packed it, you’re putting yourself at the mercy of whoever will be handling your bag. I wouldn’t pack the bike like this. Also, where are your wheels?

I’ve personally had no issues flying with ryanair, though I packed the bike a bit differently. I put it in a cardboard box like the one bikes are normally shipped with, I took the rear derailleur off the hanger and kept the rear wheel on. I put the front wheel next to the main triangle and wrapped everything in bubble wrap so that nothing gets scratched. I also put bikepacking bags in places where they’d work as a cushion in case somebody dropped the box on the ground, especially to protect the chainring and the hanger. I also wedged a whole bunch of bubble wrap between the fork legs so would be harder for my fork to get crushed. I also paid for insurance via ryanair, which cost me 20EUR for the one-way trip from Prague to Naples. The whole ticket cost me around 200EUR.

I also closed the box thoroughly, using lots of tape so that it’s as difficult as possible for somebody to break into the box and steal something, then I drew “fragile” and “bicycle” as well as arrows to show which way it should be stowed. I then took pictures from every angle before I handed the box off to the airport staff.

    4. If it makes you feel better, traveled with two of b&w cases (two bikes) (one case older model one newer), and no issues. Everything survived perfectly.
I would however completely remove the derraileur and the hanger and tape it inside the chainstays.

Packing looks great. I suggest additionally removing the derailleur and/or hanger to prevent the der hanger from getting bent during shipping.

    6. cut some pvc pipes to length for the dropouts. Just the through axle quick releases don’t prevent bending of the fork/frame as there is no thread on the handle side.
