I think the bike in the pictures is a second generation madone (?) if reverse image search is correct.

But for context, I’ve just recently got into cycling because driving to and from uni is too expensive and I want to get my own bike (I’m currently borrowing a friend’s old road bike). I’d be using the bike mostly for commuting but I’ve also been having a hell of a lot of fun doing longer rides on the weekends and I think I want to keep up with cycling beyond getting from point A to point B.

I’m a little worried because I’ve heard that older carbon frames are suspect due to their fragility and that this bike’s geometry is geared toward racing. I feel like it would be a little silly to be commuting to school in a race bike (and as a beginner idk how crazy it would be to ride that around) but it’s been hard looking for a nice road bike that isn’t around $1000 so I’m not sure if this is actually a deal or not.

Would anybody be able to speak on this model and the parts on it?

TLDR: is this a bike I’d want to buy?

    Thanks!

    1. If you get that bike for 400-450 its a good deal. It has a great set of components and wheels and dont worry about carbon fragility just look the frame over for damage. Also, make sure its within the range of a decent fit.
