My current bike is a Giant Ocr-1 compact road. It weighs about 9kg, and has a Campagnolo Velo 9 rear derailleur I'm basically looking for an equivalent newer bike (ideally less than 10 years old).

I have a budget of about £500-600, and my parents can chip in about £500. For a total budget of £800-£1100. I don't mind buying second-hand, but I can only pick up within SE London.

I don't mind if the bike is Aluminium or Carbon, as long as it weighs less than 10kg, as I need to carry it up lots of stairs.

I don't mind wether the bike has caliper or disc brakes.

I like having dropped handlebars, and I like how narrow these ones are, although I understand that's a very niche thing, and I'm unlikely to get one like this.

Image 2 is one I'm considering, but I'm not sure, and I'd like more options and opinions.

I don’t think you need a new bike – I think your current bike is much cooler and will absolutely reward you for giving it some love.

Switching to some half decent tires like Schwalbe One easily sheds 500gr off total weight of the bike, in an area where it _really_ matters: rotational weight right at the outside of the wheel. Not to mention the tread and rubber compound, a change of tires will liven up the ride like you can’t imagine.

Also that’s a 10 speed groupset you’ve got on there, so if you can only use 9 of them there’s something wrong. The position of the shifters are all kinds of wonk too, no way that feels nice to operate or even hold on to like this.
The saddle is not made for a forward riding position and switching to a sportier saddle will net jou another not insignificant weight saving.

Bring it in to a shop that knows what they’re doing for a full tune up and a tire change. It’ll cost _some_ money of course, but nowhere near what you’d spend otherwise. There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with the bike itself.
