Beautiful Malaga City walk in the morning! Nice sunny day to explore Malaga’s downtown and everything it has to offer.

Situated in the southern region of Spain, in the Andalucía region, is the city and municipality of Málaga. Known as “the capital of the Costa del Sol,” Málaga is a popular tourist attraction that receives an estimated 6 million visitors annually.

It is the second most populated city in Andalucía, the sixth most populous in Spain, and the forty-sixth most populous in the EU. It is also southern Spain’s largest and most populous coastal city.

Málaga has been designated a Historic Site because the city exhibits a broad overlap of remnants of the migration of civilizations over the ages, both from the East and from the West, in such a tiny metropolitan area. The city center is transformed into a true historical “palimpsest” by the remnants of the Punic, Phoenic, Arab, Roman, and other eras. Notable historical sites include the Roman Theater, the Cathedral, the Alcazaba, the Customs House, the Jewish Quarter, and the rich subterranean archeological heritage.

Along with a variety of well-known chain businesses and boutiques, Calle Larios also has cafeterías and ice cream parlors. There are more stores, eateries, and bars lining the streets.

Málaga cuisine, which is a component of the Mediterranean diet, is an amalgam of the province’s culinary traditions. The most common dishes are grilled sardines, or “espetos,” pickled and fried anchovies, or “boquerones,” and fried fish, or “pescaíto frito,” which is made with squid, mullet, mackerel, or anchovies. Other common dishes are noodle casserole, or “cazuela de fideos,” gazpacho, gazpachuelo, migas, Málaga salad, ajoblanco, and porra antequerana, among others. Malaga is renowned for its sweet wines, which date back thousands of years. Traditional drinks include Málaga brandy and rum.
