    1. Hi,

I have a lot of experience with road bikes, but when it comes to mtb and e-bikes, not so much. I bought a used e-bike, Serious Intention (don’t think this brand exists anymore). So I need some tips and recommendation for replacement tires. For time being I will be using these tires (see pictures) for some more weeks and then change to some studded tires that the previous owner barely had been using.

I ride on more or less only asphalt and would like to have some new tires with little rolling resistance and puncture resistance. Wet roads happens and would be nice that the tire handles this OK.

I have found some good reviews and guides, but I’m pretty confused when it comes to what tire would fit the rims.

      Thanks in advance!

    2. For the size, it’s 54-622 (mm) or 29-2.1 (in) from your second image

I have some Goodyear Transit Tours on my e-bike that are a similar size. Almost 3000 miles, no flats in that time (although I ride almost exclusively on a separated bike trail so that’s not saying much) and still plenty of tread too.

Schwalbe Marathons are probably the most popular commuter tire I see recommended. Haven’t put a ton of miles on a set of these myself, but they are supposed to have extremely good puncture protection, but are a bit harsher feeling because of it.

    3. ETRTO tells you the diameter of the rims (622 in your case). The size of your current tire is 54-622, which means 54 width, 622 diameter. When buying new tires make sure you get an ETRTO diameter of 622 and keep the width close to 54 (you can usually go up or down a size depending on your rims).
Remember that ebikes are heavy, so you need tires that are strong enough to hold the weight of you plus the bike.

    4. Etrto 622, 700c, and mtb 29″ are all the same bead seat diameter. Your rim will have a minimum width needed for the hooks to grab properly, it’s probably about the internal width (or way narrower than you’ll run).

Etrto and 700c tires are measured in mm widths. 29″ mtb tires are measured in inches. Knobby tires generally don’t include the knobs in the width measurement.

Hopefully everything goes etrto over the next few (10s) of years. It’s much easier to deal with.

    5. Yeah, I totally understand the confusion! For low rolling resistance and solid puncture protection on wet roads, the Schwalbe Marathon Plus is definitely a solid choice. Just make sure to check that the ETRTO size is 622 and keep the width around 54. It might also help to compare with your current tires. Good luck!

It is interesting to see a spelling mistake on a product: “break” instead of “brake”.

    7. You seem to be taking these pics from inside a bike shop. With the intent of asking this question since you’ve taken close up photos of the tire specs. Any reason you didn’t just ask the shop? Or did they give you a nonsense answer?
