Hey guys, my friends told me their bike chain fell off and when I went to throw it back on, I could not for the life of me untangle it. I got it to the point shown in the photo. Any advice? Basically the chain is in a figure 8 right now but I can’t just untwist it since it’s in the gear shift.

Let me give it a shot. That part of the chain between the stay/frame and the shift cable should be on the outer side of that cable. Remove or unhook the chain from the crank then just move that part of the chain to the outer side of the cable then extend the derailleur. See if that works.
