I bought this bike new in 2009 to ride to grad school since the parking on campus is so god-awful. I quit riding when I graduated and got my grownup job, then moved to a house in a hilly neighborhood…and you can figure out the rest.

Wife and I would putter around the neighborhood sometimes, but the hills kicked my ass and I resigned myself to getting old and weak. I’d get back in shape sometime, I promised myself. Sure thing.

Then a couple weeks ago, I met an older couple who run around town on e-bikes, so I started researching those. And then I thought about my old warhorse from grad school, still hanging up in my garage…

Turns out, all our bikes needed were tuneups and new shifters (and in my case, a Brooks saddle because I can be a real gear goblin sometimes…) Now I can’t stay off this thing!

TL;DR: go do stuff that you used to like doing.

  1. Does a 2022 count? Thats… kinda really late 2000s 😛

Muirwoods are great. All of the generations of this model seem to have a very flexible design, accommodating a wide range of uses.

I really like your setup. Looks clean & super functional. Those tires look damn comfortable fast rollers. Bike on my dude!
