Something to prevent the screw from losening, i’ve seen it only on shomano brakes

At first I was going to answer “a brake caliper?” but then I was like “oh that stupid thing I knocked off my shimano caliper that is useless”

It’s a little clip that goes on like a washer on the bolts that bolt your caliper to the frame. It prevents it from backing out.

It’s a weak attempt at bolt retention to reduce the likelihood of someone successfully suing Shimano if their calliper falls off. You’ll find them on their rotors as well.
Cheap bikes with bolt on front axles have another version of them.

Supposedly they prevent the bolts from loosening but there’s no way they’re strong enough to do that, you can pull them off with your fingers

I have seen it only on shimano brakes, so I would assume it is there to prevent the bolt from loosening
