I changed the chain for the first time, carefully following the Shimano instructions for 11-speed 11-30 cassette (largest cog and chainring combination, scenario 2 of the manual, I calculated an extra link in addition to the quick link).

I also used an online calculator where, after inputting the measurements for the chainstay, cassette, and chainring, it indicated that 108 links were needed.

In fact, even using the Shimano method, I had to remove exactly 8 links from the chain, which originally had 116.

However, now I find that my rear derailleur is extremely tight when in the large chainring and large cog combination!

    Is it normal?

Looks like its okay to me. If it shifts okay, you are probably good to go. This gear combo is generally discouraged anyways as it’s the most extreme cross. (Not that you can’t use it, but you know, that’s what people recommend. )
