Lennard Zinn wrote several comprehensive books as well. The main issue is keeping up with the tech that is specific to your newer bike. Up ‘til the early 2000’s (pre 2010 or so) mtb’s had the most variety of potentially proprietary parts. Road bikes remained much less complex. Now, every part is potentially unique. The big books will help you understand the general function of all the parts and the kind of tools you may need.
