So I’ve been looking for a half decent entry level single speed for a few weeks when I stubble across a forme atlow for £30, in perfect working order with proof of purchase. I assumed it was some kind of a scam or set up. I messaged back and forth with the guy for about a week. His gumtree account had no post history, he was only available past 22:00 and wanted to meet on a sketchy back road in a part of London I am not familiar with; of course I said no. Then he offered to go down to £20. Which seemed suspicious, but also I thought at that point was worth a shot, I got my friend to go with me and wait around the corner, holding my phone and wallet, ensuring I was always in sight but so no one knew we were together or he was even there. Low and behold a pretty awesome guy who goes by Chinx rolled up, offered me a test ride, which I declined, we chatted for a minute, I took my new bike and off I went.
For the price of an Uber I think I got an absolute bargain.
Turns out Chinx had a balcony full of old/new bikes that he converts to electric and then sells on, but this bike just wasn’t a good fit so he wanted it gone fast to make space for another bike.
I dont advise people do what I did, it was stupid and reckless and very easily could’ve gone the wrong way.
