The Parco degli Acquedotti is a city park in Rome extending about 240 hectares and forming part of the Appia Antica Regional Park.
The name derives from the presence in the elevated or underground of 7 Roman and papal aqueducts that supplied ancient Rome: Anio Vetus (underground), Marcia, Tepula, Iulia and Felice (superimposed), Claudio and Anio Novus (superimposed). In the past the area was known as Old Rome from the name of the homonymous farmhouse.

    *๐‡๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ*
The area, intended for public parks by the 1965 master plan, in the seventies had been expropriated and freed from the slums here presents.
In 1986, faced with the state of deterioration of the area and the risk of building speculation, some citizens created the Committee for the protection of the Parco degli Acquedotti and Roma Vecchia.

Thanks also to the support of some intellectuals, such as Lorenzo Quilici, in 1988 the committee succeeded in having the area of โ€‹โ€‹the Aqueducts included in the Appia Antica Regional Park.
The park has been used as a film set for various productions, including *La dolce vita*, *Mamma Roma*, *Il marchese del Grillo*, *La grande Bellezza*, *Totรฒ, Peppino e la … malafemmina* and television series.

The park represents the remnant of a stretch of *Agro Romano* that originally extended without interruptions to the Alban Hills, and is rich in tree vegetation, in particular pines. It also includes a small lake that flows from the Felice aqueduct and which gives life to a stream and a waterfall that trace the ancient marrana of the Acqua Mariana.

The view from the park sweeps towards the Castelli Romani and the neighboring districts, but undergoes the frequent passage at low altitude of planes landing at the nearby Ciampino airport. It is a frequent destination for visitors and amateurs, who can enjoy extensive dirt tracks for jogging and mountain biking, in addition to the private sports facilities. Agricultural and livestock activities are still carried out there.

    1. The riding videos are killing me. Honestly, you could just spend several decades just exploring Lazio let alone the rest of Italia. I have to duplicate many of your rides. We are looking at places in Viterbo, Leece and Pistoia since they are flat for riding.
Get your shots, be careful and thanks.

    2. Amazing Riccardo, you are so fortunate to live in a country with so much history. I am amazed that the Romans could build these incredible structures 2000 years ago and many are still standing, simply incredible! Thank you for sharing and take care.

    3. Bonito video, debe ser muy relajante ver estos paisajes y hacer el recorrido con amigos, igual saber la historia de los vestigios arqueolรณgicos que ahรญ aparecen. Riccardo gracias por compartir y viajar contigo, saludos y cuรญdate. ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ

    4. Imagine the magnificence in those olden times! Just seeing these remains, one can imagine what it was like. And how did they build these magnificent structures? You're so fortunate to be able to walk/bike amongst these ancient paths. And thank you for sharing with us.๐Ÿ™
Oh, and those pine trees…..aahh…. wish I was there๐Ÿ˜Š

    5. Love that we get to see what many tourists never really have the time to see. And probably don't even know about. It's nice to see all the people out in the park, the kids playing, the people walking along the different paths. Is it normally that active considering how the pandemic is keeping many natives indoors. Thanks for sharing. I absolutely appreciate it!

    6. Thank you very much for this wonderful ride.
It is amazing how skilled the Roman engineers were. I am happy to know that all these wonders are protected now in a park.
      This video made my day.
      Thanks again.

    7. I watched this on my exercise bike the other day, and enjoyed it so much that my wife and I watched it again this afternoon with a light lunch and some Italian wine . Thanks Riccardo : )
