After a few years listening to wax enthusiasts, I’ve decided to give it a go. Wish me luck.

    1. Best thing I ever did. Also fun to tell people to grab your chain, and their hand is completely clean

    2. $10 crock pot works great too. I just use paraffin wax but recently added some of those slippery ptfe powders that everyone was talking about. I haven’t noticed any difference since adding them.

    3. I’ve been doing it all season and it really seems great. One thing I didn’t see much talk about is how to clean your chain prior to rewaxing it. I bought a plastic brush kit to fit my cordless driver (google 7-piece drill brush attachment set) and brush the chain thoroughly while backspinning it on the bike. Then I take it off and do a final dry wipe with a rag before dropping it back in the cooker.

    4. How are you guys solving the chain quick link issue? Do you reuse them? Everytime a new one?

    5. I went to my local thrift store and got a used small crock pot, dye and fragrance free paraffin candles, and mason jars all for less than $10. I didn’t know they made kits.

    6. How do you deal with quicklink damage? I think that sram says that my quicklink can only be uncliped one time and then it’s not good to use.

    7. Good luck. I went the wax way early in the year and love it. Everything stays so much cleaner.

    8. Waxing is the best thing happened to modern cycling. Clean drivetrains and easy to re-apply. I always hated oils and greases.
