Mounted a new stem on my new Specialized Roubaix and used my torque wrench at 1NM. I Was surprised why it triggered so late and then the hex screw was already round. I later saw that my torque wrench only works from 2NM 🙁
How can I unscrew it? Do you have any tips or is the future shock completely damaged?

    1. Get a torx (star) bit just slightly larger and hammer it in. Then you should be able to use that to remove it.

    2. you should never use a torque wrench on a top cap. finger tight is all you need to preload the headset

    3. Put rubber band in and force the hex driver in. Torx better but a chiseled screw driver might also do the trick. If it doesn’t work then drill it.

    4. Simple deal, undo the 2 stem bolts that clamp the stem on the steerer tube, and rotate the bars left-right. This should loosen the top cap screw and allow you to get it out with ease.

A few layers of silver foil over the socket & then put the hex key in can give you enough grip to undo it.

Or cut a slot in it with a hacksaw – you’ll wreck the top cap, but you can then use a flat head screwdriver to remove it

    6. In addition tl other options posted you can always use a dremmel to cut a notch in the screw to use a screwdriver.

    7. Loosen the stem bolts and then rotate the whole stem anticlockwise. That should loosen the bolt.
