In this video, you will join me along an exciting eurovelo 8 bikepacking trip as…

At 8 am, I woke up in a natural park locarted somewhere in the heart of Provence. The night before had been quiet, leading me to oversleep. Morning came slowly as I waited for the tent to dry from the dew, a small price to pay for camping in the middle of the forest.

Today’s mission was simple: drive to Apt, for its water point and the promise of a McDonald’s meal. The journey began with a pleasant surprise as I rode past an open goat farm chilling by the roadside, unfazed by my presence.

The terrain became hilly, challenging my temper as I pushed my bike uphill. However, the effort was well worth it. Scenic towns on hills made me to pause and capture their beauty through my camera lens.

In Reillanne, I indulged in a breakfast of champions—a fresh French baguette,. As the day grew hotter, I found relief in the sporadic shades along the road.

The road to Apt unfolded into a nice, straight cycleway, a cyclist’s dream. Yet, I was thinking about the absence of fellow bike tourers in the countryside, only encountering them on busy state roads. Were they not attrracted by the scenic route, or were they simply racing through, skipping what they thought as mundane?

Upon reaching Apt, my anticipation for a unhealthy meal was met with disappointment—no big burgers were to be found at McDonald’s. The route thereafter was straightforward, dotted with many bike stops.

By evening, I found myself in Cavaillon, civilization greeting me at a lower altitude with bamboos and canals lining the route—a picturesque setting, albeit likely a haven for mosquitoes and a reminder of the narrow roads.

Desperation set in as I stumbled upon an empty fruit stand. With no cars in sight, I took a chance on stealth camping. I concealed my Brompton inside and hid behind the stand, awaiting the sunset’s to pitch my tent.

Darkness became my ally as I sneaked back, setting up my tent. The plan was to wake up early, evading the fruit stand’s owners. My mind, however, was already racing ahead, contemplating how to navigate the impending thunderstorms.
