Patrick arrives and we have a few peaceful days exploring the Loire Valley together. Then major renovation work begins on our cozy home, turning it into a buzzing hive of activity. With guests arriving, the timing of this madness is not ideal, but the work must be done.

  1. Hi it really is coming along, I have to say I fell in love with your Garden first time I seen it, as even with all the flowers fighting for there place you could see how with love this Garden was going to shine. I did hear something on another channel about roses and grapevines so i had to go look, and yes they used to plant a rose bush at the sight of vines as any fungus, flies mould or rot would alert the vine growers of a problem as it attacked the roses first, so there you go fun fact. Hope to see you back soon, hugs Dede xxxxx

  2. Sometime when you're in TX and looking for content, it would be interesting to know how you chose Amboise. I think you worked with Adrian, but did you consider any other locations? Great that you're making progress!

  3. Ha! That techno music 🎶. Those workers need to invest in Bluetooth. I loved seeing the garden come to life (again!); the architectural details on buildings; your new chandelier in the temp living room and your picnic. I envy you the beautiful stove. Great vlog.

  4. I may be wrong, but oasis wasn't the first word that came to mind, nor was serene. Hey ho! There is time to achieve both…eventually. At least you'll have clean clothes while you wait.
I've never understood why there is no exit from the back yard. It seems massively inconvenient, as well as a bit dangerous. If the house, God forbid, had a fire you'd be really stuck.

  5. Hi I always look forward to seeing what you're up to. It's probably too late now for this suggestion, but maybe for some other time you do up a small space as a bathroom. You could have considered a sanibroyeur, which allows you to plumb a toilet down a small drain and build in a toilet in places which otherwise would not have been suitable. If you're curious, have a look the next time you're in Castorama or Leroy Merlin.

  6. You aren't in France unless you've been to Brico at least once. Home Depot with an accent. Lol.
I have to say that eating with that view of architecture makes even a sandwich seem exotic. Interesting wine decanter at the restaurant. I wouldn't mind one of those.

  7. From the internet: Roses were planted at the end of rows as an early warning system for the winegrower. They attract insects like aphids before the vines. They also get fungal disease like black rot and mildew before the vines do.

  8. Yes thé brico unicorn! I laughed out loud. BRICOMarche. They are open near us at lunch time and very nice and helpful. Amazing you made so much progress. It can take many months where we are to get on a workers schedule. Ambroise is a beautiful place.
