Purchased a set of new brakes for a cheap beater. The bike only had a rear brake so I knew what I had to replace with. Rear replacement fits and works perfectly, but the front brakes barely touch the rim and are closer to center of the wheel.
I checked and both wheels are 700c.. Am I missing something? Is there a smaller brake for the front wheel that I shoud have gotten? is this bike just too much of a POS? lol…

It might help to switch around the washers on the caliper’s mounting bolt, moving some to the back will bring the caliper closer to the fork, and hopefully provide a bit of extra clearance.

It seems to be in the “open” position. Just rotate that lever down.

Maybe it’s my eyes playing tricks, but aside from the brake being open, it looks like it’s below the braking track.

Maybe these are medium reach caliper(47-57mm, and you need short reach (39-49mm). A cheap fix would be to drill a new hole at the fork a little bit higher.

What bike is that? The picture has me thinking that it’s not designed with 700c wheels in mind

Unfortunately, the break is just a little too long and you need a shorter break

Quick googling about Radius calipers shows that there are two lengths of that brake on the market. Do you have the same length calipers?

Wrong wheel size. Looks like someone retrofitted a 700C fixed/free wheelset onto an 80s MTB frame.

Damn I have basically the opposite issue on my wheel, the brake pad isn’t low enough.

That caliper doesn’t fit!!!

You need a shorter reach caliper. I bet you could file the slots a few MM on this pair and see if that works, though.
