    2. Endurance or endurance + – I have about 500 on these and 500 on the smooth ones, great tire I haven’t had any issues!

      The extra lites lasted about a month caught a staple and it wouldn’t plug.

    3. I have a pair of these tires with the endurance casing. I really like them. I was alternating between these and Maxxis Rekkon Race tires on my Sutra LTD. Despite it’s smaller volume the Oracle Ridge outperformed the Rekkon Race on the washed out logging roads that I mainly ride on. It was far more supple (I hate using that word), had better traction on the climbs, and better braking especially in sand despite it’s smaller volume than the 29 x 2.25 Maxxis offering. I’ll be putting them on my new bike, and I will likely buy them again.

    4. I did a 2 week bikepacking trip through Iceland and I used the 47c version of these. Absolutely bomb proof through some chunky gravel and old roads and rolled pretty well on the paved road with minimal noise.

      If I am doing a bikepacking trip or just a single day epic, these are the tires I use.

      I have them in standard casing. They are slower on the road than people claim. Like way slower than the slicks. But if you need knobs they are all going to slow you down a bit. 

      I’d always recommend the endurance casing with RH. It’s just the best way to get your money’s worth. 

    6. Has anyone had success riding the ultra lights? I want to give them a try but it seems like everyone that tries them doesn’t stick with them. I think they could work for me since I’m not particularly concerned about punctures and I enjoy supple tires

    7. I absolutely love Rene Herse. IMO they are they best combination of feel and endurance. I’ve tried other “premium” brands that don’t live up to the expectation

    8. Endurance lasted me a very long time. Now I’m running endurance + and hoping to see if these will last even longer. Pretty happy with Rene Herse. For me they have been better than Panaracer Gravelking SK and Maxxis Ramblers.

      I’ve ridden several different Rene Herse tires, and we sell them in the shop.

      The reviews are… mixed. Here are my two cents.

      I’ve rode a Hurricane Ridge set of tires until they were done. Tread was gone, and they needed replaced. I ran the normal casing, and ran them at between 30 and 40 psi with a system weight of about 160 pounds in the San Francisco Bay Area with a mix of about 50/50 road/gravel. Our riding conditions here are very mixed.

      The tires preformed wonderfully on the road. They were an amazing road tire. They were fast and confident inspiring. I really can’t fault them as a road tire. Great wet grip too. I loved them.

      On gravel though, they were just… OK. First of all, the knob spacing tends to grab small rocks and chuck them into your frame, which was *extremely* annoying. I found myself messing with tire pressure just to see if I could get it to stop. Riding uphill, I found myself lacking traction in the rear. The tire tended to jump and skip while climbing unseated. This was especially true on loose over hard and loose gravel. While on flatter flowy gravel and single track, these things were dope. They felt fantastic ripping a bit of single track or cruising along on some champagne gravel. A very fast tire. When pointed downhill, I think they again, fell short of expectations. I found the tires tend to squirm. They never really felt locked into the line I was taking. Which, isn’t confidence inspiring, or fast.

      Durability was fine. They never punctured. However, they sure didn’t last very long. I’m not sure the exact mileage, but I remember being really surprised by how quick they wore out.

      The other tire I’ve ridden from Rene Herse is the 35mm slick in an Extralite casing. I actually think those slicks work better as a gravel tire. I feel way more connected to the trail while ascending or descending. The slicks are fantastic riding tires. Way better than the knobby tires in my opinion. These tires also wore out pretty quick. They also puncture frequently, like every few rides.

      What do the customers think of these things? Its completely love/hate. There is no in the middle. People either only ride these, or will never consider riding them again.

      First of all, they wear out quick. Second of all, they are almost impossible to plug. And lastly, they are fucking *expensive*. Ridiculously so. Especially for a tire that wears out so quick. Even the endurance casing doesn’t last that long. Sure, you’ll not get a puncture, but you’ll be replacing the tire far more often that most other brands.

      If you want a knobby gravel tire, there are much, *much* better options. Tires that will grip better, last longer, and be less prone to flats than RH, oh and they’ll be cheaper. If you want road tires, there are again, much better preforming tires on the market.

      Do I love or hate RH? I think I’m in camp hate. I’ll never buy another set of those. They simply to not deliver the performance per dollar spent. Period. On the road, or on gravel. In my opinion, there are better preforming options on the market AND those options are cheaper.

      They do look nice though.
