European Heritage Days – Dijon, 2024

Last weekend was the European Heritage Days (or Journées du Patrimoine in French) and sites all over Europe were accessible to the public. I took advantage of this fun annual event to visit some local sites here in Dijon, France that I wanted to learn more about – or to visit for the very first time. In this video, I take you along with me to explore the city I’ve lived in for over 15 years, but am always learning something new about.

Here’s the complete program of the event:

    1. The age of the items in the different museums, is mind blowing. I am so happy they have been preserved and are shown to people, not just hidden away for a select few. Amazing cultural and world heritage.

    2. I was able to tour my daughter’s collège, it was built in the 1500’s and was an Hôtel de Ville. In the 1700’s Louis 14th slept in this home and the room where he slept is now the teachers conference room. Such history!

    3. Super fun video to watch! My husband and I are planning to retire to France in a few years. I had never heard of European Heritage Days until your video. We will be sure to take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities to go "behind the scenes" of these magnificent landmarks and places in France. Thanks for sharing!
