I've bought my EMTB about 2 months ago and I've put just over 200 miles on it. I've been using Peaty's All Weather Lube or Dry Lube for majority of my rides depending on conditions, and ride my bike mostly through muddy/sandy single track locations in Wales, lot's of downhill stuff basically. I also ride almost exclusively in boost mode.

The chain that came stock on the bike was a shimano deore 12 speed chain, and after conducting basic maintenance on my bike and checking the chain for wear, I can see it is already gone past the 0.5% chain wear limit for 12 speed chains and needs replacing.

I don't understand why it needs replacing already after only 200 miles when I hear people on forums getting over 500 miles out of theirs.. unless they're lying?

One thing about this I've noticed is it affected my previous emtb, and when I asked why it was happening then, people suggested the chains I was buying were potentially counterfeit. Well the chain that came on this bike is the one that came on the bike, direct from Canyon, so surely they're not sending counterfeit chains?

Is there something from maybe a maintenance perspective I'm getting wrong? I wipe clean the chain after every muddy 20 mile ride and relube it. I also give it a deep clean if it's particularly grimy.

Any tips/insights appreciated, thanks!
