My new decorative crank accessory

I tried using a heavy duty pipe wrench to get it out. It's staying in there. I was just doing some basic maintenance, so it's not like anything was wrong….until now.
But still rides fine. So can I just ride this until my bottom bracket wears out 5-20 years from now? I don't ride this MTB super often. I don't think the hassle of trying to fix this is worth my time if it's not bothering anything.
